GPT-6.1 Sol Pro
Current version: 6.1 updated
The same GPT-6.1 Sol served with pro reasoning for hard tasks. 1.05M context
What's new in GPT-6.1 Sol Pro
- The same model as GPT-6.1 Sol, served in pro reasoning mode
- Higher answer quality on complex tasks thanks to far more reasoning tokens
- A typical request costs several times more and takes much longer than on GPT-6.1 Sol
- Inherits the 6.1 gains: fewer factual errors, more reliable respect for restrictions
- 1.05M-token context, up to 128K output, text, image and file input
What it's the best tool for
- The same GPT-6.1 Sol, served in pro reasoning mode
- 1.05M token context, up to 128K tokens in a single reply
- Text, images and files in one request
- Inherits the 6.1 gains: fewer factual errors, closer adherence to explicit restrictions
- Tool calling, schema-constrained structured output, seed and reasoning effort control
When to reach for something else
- Much slower than regular Sol: pro mode thinks longer
- Burns far more reasoning tokens, so a typical request costs several times more
- On short, unambiguous prompts it gains little over regular Sol
- Text output only: the model does not generate images or video

More about GPT-6.1 Sol Pro
GPT-6.1 Sol Pro Online — the Deeper Reasoning Mode of GPT-6.1 Sol
GPT-6.1 Sol Pro is the same OpenAI model as GPT-6.1 Sol, served in the pro reasoning mode. There is no separate Pro model: the whole difference is how long the model thinks before it answers. On NetRoom it replaced GPT-6 Sol Pro, and the old link now leads here. Sol is the high-end workhorse of the GPT-6 generation — it sits below the flagship GPT-6 Astra and above the fast Luna tier. Both versions, regular and Pro, live in the same chat.
What pro mode buys you
Pro spends noticeably more reasoning tokens on every request. Where the answer depends on a dozen linked conditions — reading unfamiliar code, a long calculation chain, hunting contradictions in a document — the model cuts fewer corners for the sake of speed. The price of that is time and spend: a typical request costs several times more than on GPT-6.1 Sol and takes noticeably longer. On short, unambiguous prompts the difference is barely visible: regular Sol answers just as well, only faster. The technical specs are the same across both versions: a 1.05M-token context, up to 128K tokens in a single reply, text, image and file input, and text output.
What it can do
The model inherits everything version 6.1 brought: fewer factual errors and more reliable respect for explicit restrictions and user intent in agentic tasks. Tool calling and schema-constrained structured output are supported, so the reply can move down the pipeline without parsing free text. There is a seed for reproducibility and a reasoning effort setting when you want to tune the balance between depth and latency. Images and files travel in the same request as text: a stack-trace screenshot, a scanned contract and your question about them go out as one message.
When to pick Sol Pro over regular Sol
Pro is built for hard problems where a wrong answer is expensive: heavy refactoring, auditing long documents, multi-step agent scenarios, analysis with long derivations. For everyday work, quick chat, drafts and routine questions, regular GPT-6.1 Sol makes more sense — it replies noticeably faster and burns far fewer reasoning tokens on the same task. If the job needs the very top of the line, look at GPT-6 Astra Pro.
