FLUX Video Upscale: Upscale Video to 4K
FLUX Video Upscale is a dedicated model from Black Forest Labs, released on 20 August 2026. It is not a generator: it invents nothing from scratch. It takes footage you already have and raises it to 1080p, 2K or 4K while preserving motion, composition and the original audio track.
What goes in
One source file is required, supplied as a video URL or a previously uploaded clip. The limits are strict and worth checking before you start: up to 20 seconds long, up to 50 MB in size, and a frame area up to 3.69 megapixels, roughly 2560x1440. Longer footage has to be cut into pieces and processed segment by segment. The upscale factor runs from 1.5x to 3x in steps of 0.1, with 2x by default, which doubles width and height. Output frames are capped at about 14.4 megapixels, so a high-resolution source may end up upscaled by less than the factor you asked for.
Two enhancement modes
Precise mode stays faithful to the source and sharpens it. It is the mode for faces, interviews, product and brand footage, where appearance and object geometry must not change. Creative mode restores and invents finer detail, which suits generated clips, scenery, textures and crowd shots, but it does not guarantee that facial identity is preserved. Creative mode costs more than precise at every resolution.
The prompt is optional
A text description is not required, the model works without one. A prompt is useful for steering which detail gets enhanced — fabric fibres, wood grain, droplets, individual hairs — and for stating what to leave alone: do not alter the face, do not add lettering, do not lift the exposure. The prompt can run up to 12000 characters. Negative prompts are not supported, so restrictions belong inside the main text.
Honest limitations
The model cannot generate video from scratch and does not extend a clip: output duration matches input duration exactly. Fixed seeds are not supported. Processing is asynchronous and takes time, the result does not appear instantly. Billing is per second of the source video, so a twenty-second clip costs four times a five-second one.
